FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 wins Best Tourism Sport Festival A

Berlin: The Arab Union for Tourist Media awarded the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 the award of the best tourism sports festival held on an Arab soil in 2022.

This came during the Unions announcement of the names of winners of the Tourism Media Awards for 2023, on Wednesday in the German capital, Berlin, on the sidelines of ITB Berlin, which is being held in Germany from March 7 to 9 with exhibitors from more than 150 countries.

The Jordan Pavilion hosted the ceremony, where Jordanian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram Al-Qaisi announced the names of the winners at the presence of officials of the World Tourism Organization, the Arab Union for Tourist Media and a number of tourism officials in the Arab countries.

The Arab Tourism Media Awards are the highest Arab awards for honoring distinguished governmental and private figures and institutions in the sectors of tourism promotion, hotels and tourist destinations in the Arab region, in addition to honoring the media supporting Arab tourism plans.

The awards included the Man of the Arab Heritage 2023 Award, Arab Heritage Personality Award for the year 2023, the Best City Award for Sustainable Tourism, and the Best Arab Event Award for Sustainable Tourism for the Climate Change Conference (COP 27), in addition to the awards for the best CEO of an Arab tourism authority, the best personality in the Arab tourism bodies, the best Arab hotel management, the best Arab tourist destination for 2023, the best Arab tourism festival, the best travel and tourism agency that supports Arab tourism, the best application for travel and flight reservations and the best hotel suitable for the Arab family.

The names of the winners of the tourism media awards, which included the fields of journalism, radio and television, were also announced, in addition to a number of awards given to influencers on social media.

The Chairman of the Arab Union for Tourist Media Dr. Sultan Al Yahyai said in a statement that the winners are personalities and institutions that have outstanding and distinguished efforts in the tourism industry from various Arab countries. This year, the Awards Committee was keen to set criteria for always selecting the best in those awards, which have become the most important in the Arab world.

The announcement of the awards during the ITB Berlin, the largest tourism event in the world, reflects the great prestige enjoyed by the awards in the world, which has become an example of honoring creators in the field of tourism and heritage media, Al Yahyai noted.
