NTB was established in 1867. In the early years it was privately owned. After World War I, the agency was acquired by AS Norsk Telegrambyrå, a limited company owned by a group of newspapers. Images have been part of our news services since 1932.

Included in the NTB group are the companies InFlow Media, NTB Arkitekst and Nynorsk Pressekontor (NPK). NTB also co-owns the media monitoring agency Retriever with the Swedish news agency TT.

We are jointly owned by Norwegian media and have no ties to Norwegian authorities.

Retriever is the Nordic largest supplier of media monitoring, media archives and media analysis, with the largest private professional media research environment in the Nordic region.

NTB owns 34% of Retriever. The Swedish news agency TT owns the rest of the company.

NTB Arkitekst provide a wide range of products and services in plain language, effective communication and digitization. They help customers provide good and effective texts for work, in writing courses, development of texts, as well as in measurement and analysis of effectiveness. NTB Arkitekst are also experts on news language and legal writing.

InFlow Media is a leading provider of enriched metadata to Nordic TV distributors and media groups. Currently InFlow Media is owned 50/50 by NTB and the Danish news agency Ritzaus Bureau A/S.
